Workshop for Aggregate and Concretes Analysis in Building and Construction
Aggregates are crucial materials especially for concrete used in the construction industry. In Singapore, the import of construction materials is regulated by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).
As part of BCA’s regulations, potential quarries have to be surveyed and aggregates have to undego tests such as petrography analysis, mortar bar test, chloride and sulphate content test. Importers whose products fail to meet BCA’s specifications will face serious losses if their aggregates are rejected.
The aim of this half day workshop [ PDF 543 kB ] is to help participants to better understand site survey, aggregate hand sample examination, petrographic examination, mortar bar test, chloride and sulphate content tests, as well as their main procedures. In addition, this workshop will also provide an overview on the identifying of deleterious aggregates.
